Snow Storm

Happy Snow Day!  I think the last time there was even close to this much snow I was a munchkin!  I'm definitely loving the snow day and the pretty snow.  After this I'm totally making snow angels and acting like a kid.

I hope everyone is enjoying the snowpocolypse.  Also - yay for new nerdy glasses!

Layered

[Vest & Gingham Button Down - Old Navy; Sweater - Target; Jeans - Calvin Klein; Boots - Aerosoles; Necklace - J.Crew Factory; Watch - Michael Kors]

I'm not going to label this post on how much I hate winter because I think we all know that already.  I did make the decision early on in the cold weather that a vest would be a must when layering this season.  I saw this lady in Old Navy and I knew I had to have it.  I just wish I had bought more in different colors!  I thought white would be the safest since I tend to wear blue & black a lot... but I want a navy one, and an olive one, AND a black one.  Think of all the possibilities!

Should I also mention that I want more gingham shirts, own multiple bauble necklaces, and this sweater in different necklines & colors?  I have a problem.  This is called, finding something you like and going to town.  That may be the only positive thing about winter... layering!  You can't really do that in summer, I guess.

In case anyone enjoys my boots - they are on SUPER sale.  Originally $150, you can now get them for $50.  THAT'S AWESOME!  Snag them up, while you can!

I've Found What I've Been Lookin' For

[Sweater - TJMaxx; T-Shirt - American Eagle; Necklace - Lou Lou; Jeans - Express; Boots - Aerosoles]

I have been on the look out for certain sweaters this season.  I'm asking for a white cableknit for Christmas.  I am on the look out for certain sweaters with fun prints.  One day I will get my hands on the perfect ugly Christmas sweater.  And I wanted a perfect tan, chunky, cableknit cardigan.  Dear TJMaxx, you always pull through.  I think I could wear it every day.

In other news: on our excursion to Alexandria, I discovered my first Lou Lou's Boutique.  I fell in love.  I decided not to buy the whole store, but I'm pretty sure the boyfriend thought there was a possibility of that happening.  This red bauble necklace was one of my purchases and worth every penny.  I think I could take one in every color (I also have one in blue, a turquoise translucent gem one, and purchased a pearl one the same day) and have been browsing the website daily thinking of what my jewelry collection is going to look like.  I know what's going on the birthday wishlist this coming year! (Hear that?  Spoiled me thinking of April birthday wishlists... SHEESH!)

Fancy Lumberjack

[Blouse & Skirt - Gap; Cardigan - Old Navy; Tights - Target; Boots - Aerosoles; Necklace & Ring - Express; Ring - 310 Rosemont; Bangle Bracelets - Alex & Ani]

I hate that it's getting colder and now I need to be wearing a coat.  While I think they can make an outfit, sometimes they keep you limited.  But I do love plaid shirts - flannel or not.  They're just too cute.  I also like adding tights to give outfits a different look.

Speaking of different look - I've started realizing that necklaces are becoming more and more prevalent in my wardrobe.  The story behind this beauty goes a little like this...

My co-worker & I went to Target one day to pick up a dress for her to wear to her best friend's rehearsal dinner.  We kept trying to think of the necklaces she had that would look good with the dress.  This type of necklace kept popping in my head and then we couldn't stop thinking about it.  The next time I saw one, I had to buy it so she could borrow it for the rehearsal.  Friendship sometimes is manifested through fashion, people ;)

Now I keep getting called the 2 Broke Girls Girl at work though...

Falling Leaves

[Sweater & Elephant Bangle - Forever 21; Jeggings - Express; Boots - Aerosoles; Sunnies - RayBan]

Oversized sweaters are going to make quite the mark in my fall wardrobe.  I've already worn this maroon number multiple times.  It's so comfy and warm, I could sleep in it!  I am a little on the fence about leggings as pants.  I know people hate when people wear leggings as pants but they're so comfy and can be flattering depending on the outfit.  My rule: always wear a shirt that covers your bum.  This sweater is perfect!

After we took these pictures, we went to our friend's reveal party (I'm too young for my friends to be having kids... I'm just saying!) and I bonded with the dog, Murphy.  As you can see, there was a lot of love between the Murph & I.  Chin Kisses.  Deep conversations.  And some handholding.  I'm like the dog whisperer!

For Red Is the Color That My Baby Wore

[Dress - Target; Scarf - Old Navy; Boots - Aerosoles; Earrings - Vintage; Bracelets - Alex & Ani]

If I were to make a list of closet staples, a simple long-sleeve jersey dress in multiple colors would top it.  I bought this dress in black and black & white striped, too.  They're warm in the cold months and light in the warm months.  They are casual with flats and Sperrys, and dressy with heels and boots.  They look great with blazers, statement necklaces, embellished belts, and patterned scarves.  I even have added to the options list some layering with chambray Oxfords and sweaters (something to look forward to, eh?).  While I am late on this blogging thing since my purchase of the amazing dresses, my biggest advice is when you do find one that you love, buy it in every color - I wish I had bought more!

Bleed Orange & Blue: Bullet & Bear Style

I'm all about school pride.  And I'm learning to love football in the fall (besides Friday Night Lights... I never needed help loving that).  No matter if it's showing my alma mater's colors with pride or going out to a bar to watch da bears with the boyfriend, I love, love LOVE orange & blue.  It's so classy & flattering, I think I may have a problem...
